“My father had a vision, he saw what was needed and just worked to make it happen,” says Ken Vincunas of his father, Ray Vincunas, who began Development Associates in 1955. Vincunas senior, with one year of business college under his belt, worked as a brush salesman for ProBrush and sold clocks for Wesclock, but harbored bigger dreams for the area and for his family. He began by creating partnerships to fund and develop properties in the area when he met Ed O’Leary of O’Leary Co. in the 1960’s and a partnership was born.
Working together to develop single-tenant buildings, the combination of the companies eventually allowed for in-house construction, development, leasing and property management. This type of full-service offering set Development Associates apart and allowed for continued partnerships that resulted in multi-tenant buildings and the current “build to suit” format employed by the company today.
Ken Vincunas, owner and General Manager of Development Associates, has helped build his father’s vision since joining the firm in 1988. Bringing with him a sharp consultant’s perspective, Ken has grown the business into one of the most successful commercial realtors in the area. “Ed wrote a letter to my father back in the mid-80’s offering up the idea of a permanent manager to take the helm at Development Associates. I stepped in and the rest is history.”
Since it’s inception, the history of Development Associates highlights wide and varied experience with all types of projects including: automotive, medical, high-tech, office, banks, hotels, child care, post office, manufacturing, distribution, educational, call center and more. Properties that we’ve developed and manage range from a 1,200 sq ft U.S. Post Office, to a 75,000 sq ft high tech campus, to a 30,000 sq ft medical office building, to a 190,000 sq ft office complex.

Since 2000, Development Associates has taken on a larger team, adding a full-time field construction manager, property management team and additional support.
